Tonya Simpson, Founder and CEO of T’Shields+&Children, LLC was raised in Brooklyn, NY by a single mom at the time and lived with her and her older brother. It was when her mom married that she was introduced to the entrepreneurship life by her stepdad. She started working at the age of five in a grocery store where she learned how to count and appreciate working with money. She would always pretend to work at a grocery store and clothing store with her fake cash register, stapling the receipts to the bags, just like she saw the cashiers do in the stores.
Her hobbies include dancing, modeling, singing at the Church Choir at a young age, the arts, knitting, crutching, painting, drawing, reading, writing and cooking. Dating a Nationwide Artist is just a constant reminder of the love that she has for him and the art world, sharing him with the world is the most challenging of all, but her trust in God overpowers all doubt. At the age of 9 she attended the Flatbush Avenue Dance Theatre and the Muse for ballet and tap where she still remembers her tap steps to this day. In 1992 she came in 1st place in a modeling competition at the Indigo Blues in Manhattan, New York surrounded by stars like James Brown, Kid and Play and quite a few other celebrities. As a result of coming in 1st place at the fashion show, she appeared in two magazines, Black Diaspora and Black Beauty.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Audrey Cohen College in Manhattan and a Master’s Degree (MBA) in Business Administration from the Grand Canyon University in Phoenix Arizona and attended Fashion Institute of Technology for Fashion in NY. She is a certified Tax Preparer from Liberty Tax where she learned to do her own taxes. She is currently pursuing a license in Life Insurance, after working for one company for 20 years in the life insurance industry she decided to go for her license. There she was the caption of Special Olympics, Executive Secretarial Assistant, Quality assurance associate and Receptionist. She believes in multiple streams of income and has been an entrepreneur for many years. Though she has not completely reached her financial goals as an entrepreneur, she has not given up hope and believes one day with her continued hard work and faith that she will reach her ultimate goals.
Her most recent accomplishment was graduating at the Closer Academy in San Diego, CA as a high ticket closer earlier this year 2022, where she graduated with 7 certifications in high ticket sales. She used her previous knowledge from college, mentors, personal experience, family friends and the Academy to help build on her own existing business, T’Shields+&Children, LLC, which came into existence during the pandemic in 2021 after dreaming about her future goals. She has a Real Estate Book, titled: Selling Secrets you can’t afford to miss. She has worked in four Real Estate offices as a Receptionist and Rental Associate.
The one thing she holds dear, is being a mother of two beautiful daughters, having a wonderful son-in-law and two grand-daughters and a step granddaughter. Nothing is more rewarding to her than seeing the positive seeds that she has planted grow into beautiful blossoms and being able to rekindle many loss years with her biological dad. She owes a lot of her success to her parents, daughters, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandmother, extended family church family and mentors who have been her biggest cheerleaders throughout the years.
Tonya has accomplished many great things and would like to continue to build her business, but she knows that she is only as good as her supporters are to her. Her goal is to be the best that she can be at anything she endeavors. She would like to give a special thanks to her web-designer, logo designer, photographers, hair stylist and everyone who has believed in her and have helped to contribute to her success. She says this is only the beginning and the best is yet to come. Her favorite slogan that she created and tries to live by is: “Peace Within Brings Beauty Without”. The meaning of that is, if one has complete inner peace within themselves, those around them will see the beauty from without, whether it be a glow in their appearance or a beautiful personality, conversation or their positive attitude and communication.

People come into our lives for a reason and a season and we should always know the difference. Tonya will never forget the role her stepdad played in her life. He taught her discipline, patience, how to work hard and earn a living for herself, how to love unconditionally and most of all Godly principles.
